“Abaporu Abduction ” – Benchmarking sustainable in MASP
The International Ranking Sustainable Benchmarking awards around the world good sustainable practices of individuals and companies who undertake projects considered transformers in society. In 2012 the prize delivery happened in MASP, the largest and most important museum of Brazil and the entire southern hemisphere.
During the award ceremony was held an exhibition of Thiago Cóstackz the Sustainability Culture space curated Sustainable Benchmarking within the MASP. The works were Cóstackz body art and body performances inspired by the modernist and cannibalistic spirit of Tarsila do Amaral. Thiago Cóstackz was chosen to be an artist of the beginning of this century rereading an artist from the beginning of the last century, celebrating the 90th anniversary of the Modern Art Week 1922, which was revolutionary as artistic and cultural movement in Brazil of the twentieth century.
Besides the artist received the award “The Legitimate Sustainability” actress Christiane Torloni. This was the second time that both were awarded for their activism and their environmental projects. In 2011 the National Festival Short Santos honored both in your evening gala.

The abduction of Abaporu and the Human Invasion.
Inspired by Tarsila do Amaral’s “Abaporu”, this work is a reflection on the devaluation of the national culture that might end up abducted by other countries (as happened to Abaporu that ended up in Argentina). All the natural elements of the work were modified and changed by human elements such as synthetic grass and the cactus that has turned into a road, which represents, in the artist’s work, an ultimate symbol of our presence and impact. It was exhibited at MASP (Museu de Arte de Sao Paulo) during the tribute that Thiago Cóstackz received from the Sustainable Benchmarking Ranking which has awarded in 2012 good practices in society related to sustainability.

In a Society of Clones, Awakening is needed!
Rereading of the work: “Workers” by Tarsila do Amaral, where a huge futuristic factory produces identical beings in two archetypes: the male and female only, questioning our standardization of thought, consumption and identity. The photo shows two beings awakening, showing that the same machine (system or model?) that produces identical beings is also able to awake them.
